Business Doctors: How to select the right franchise for you

Business DoctorsSo, you’ve decided to start your own business and that the franchise route is the one for you.  But with so many franchise opportunities available, how do you pick the one that will suit you best?

Step 1: Look in the Mirror

And I mean take a really hard look.  What do you see?  Be brutally honest with yourself.  What are your strengths?  What are your weaknesses?  What part of your previous role did you love?  What did you hate?  It’s not about what is on your CV.  It’s about you, and who you are.  You’re making a big decision with your future.  Concentrate more on what you love than what you hate, and you’re much more likely to choose a business opportunity that will make you not only successful but happy.

Step 2: Look at the Options

Different franchises offer more than just different types of sectors or services.  Looking deeper into what’s on offer is a great way to assess if the opportunity is the right fit for you.  Does the franchise offer a good work-life balance, or could you envisage becoming a slave to your own business.  Is it just a job in disguise, or does it offer the chance to truly nurture and grow your very own business?  Would you, in fact, be happier with the former or the latter?

Once you’ve thought hard about who you are and what you’re good at, consider how you want the future to look.  Are you prepared to work hard to make your business work for you?  Are you ready to make the commitment to ensuring a return on your investment?  What will this look like?
