With over 17,000 new businesses registered in Birmingham in 2016, the city has retained its title as the most entrepreneurial UK city outside of London1. This news comes as The National Franchise Exhibition returns to the NEC, Birmingham on 13 and 14 October. The exhibition will give aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to explore the lucrative franchising industry and add to the growing network of new businesses in Birmingham and the UK as a whole.
The National Franchise Exhibition has a plethora of big name brands exhibiting - including McDonald’s, Dyno and event sponsors, Anytime Fitness - providing visitors with a chance to speak face- to- face with franchisors about what it takes to operate a successful business. Waqaas, a previous visitor from Luton, comments: “My brother and I were looking at investing in a franchise together. We were really impressed by the range and quality of franchise brands exhibiting. There are great opportunities for entrepreneurs looking for expert advice to get started”.
Visitors can relax in the knowledge that all exhibiting brands operate a viable and ethical business model because the event hold an exclusive partnership with the British Franchise Association (bfa). Each exhibiting franchise brand must comply with the strict guidelines set by the bfa in order to showcase at the event.
The exhibition will also offer attendees a programme of over 60 seminars, including McDonald’s Insight Sessions where visitors can learn about the success of the global fast food brand. Alain, a visitor to last year’s event from Greater Manchester, comments: “I came to the exhibition for a McDonald’s Insight Session but I’ve ended up staying a lot longer! It has been a really effective way of getting quality information about the franchise industry”
Visitors looking for advice before taking on a business venture will benefit from the one-to-one clinics at the event which will provide expert guidance on everything from careers to
finances. The Real Franchise Stories panel will also give budding franchisees a chance to discuss the industry with those who have gone through the process already.
The Growing Your Own Business conference, incorporated within the exhibition, will give visitors the chance to enhance their business skills through an extensive programme of workshops. High-profile keynote speakers will also be sharing the secrets to their success. Previous speakers include BBC’s The Apprentice winners Mark Wright and Joseph Valente and social media guru Steven Bartlett.
