His Background..

Andy spent the early part of his career in Chartered Accountancy and over 25 years in sales, marketing, operations and business development in large corporate and SME organisations in the print industry. Andy decided, towards the end of 2005, that life as an employee was no longer providing him with sufficient fulfilment or satisfaction, so he decided to make a “ leap of faith” and do something that would not only challenge and develop him personally but, more importantly, allow him to make a lasting difference through the work that he would carry out with the people he came into contact with.

Franchising was the Answer...

With this in mind he arranged to visit the National Franchise Exhibition at Olympia, in March 2006, and look in more depth at a number of specific franchise opportunities. Having spent the day talking to those franchises he had identified as providing real potential, he had one remaining stand to visit (one which had been busy with a constant stream of visitors all day!) and just before the show was due to close he seized the opportunity to have a one to one discussion with Tony Jones, a director of Ology.

Andy says, “There was an instant rapport and chemistry with Tony and an empathy with the process I had been going through for the previous 6 months – the” leap of faith” and what I later came to describe as a rite of passage, in terms of my need for change, which has now resulted in a new and exciting phase of my life”.

Training…

Since then he has undergone a rigorous and comprehensive training programme and is now enjoying the best of both worlds – the support and back up that employees enjoy combined with the freedom and independence that only the self-employed can appreciate.

The Buzz…

Andy comments, “ I not only get a real buzz from running my own business, but also from helping other small/medium sized business owners achieve their own goals and aspirations which are, not surprisingly, often very similar to my own. We all strive to have more time to do the things we enjoy, to realise a level of income that recognises our efforts, and to ensure that we retire when we want to without worrying about the finances.”
