Rob has over 30 years of experience at senior management level in the office equipment, mobile communications and telecommunications industries, with the last 20 years in director positions.
He has managed businesses from £300k turnover to £102m turnover, with full p & l responsibility.
Rob has a genuine passion for transforming under-performing businesses, with a holistic approach that embraces culture and process as well as sales, marketing and financial issues.
Over the course of his career, Rob has had functional responsibility at director level for direct sales, distribution channel sales, marketing, business development, customer service, field service, call centres, network operations, distribution and logistics and project management.
He has worked extensively with owners of small to medium businesses, has been involved in business mergers and acquisitions from both sides of the table, has built and led some very effective teams and has led major organisational changes.
Rob tried retirement, but found that he missed the stimulation of the business world. He set up his own company and is now using his experience and passion for growing and improving businesses, coupled with ICON’s solutions and knowledge base, for the benefit of business owners.
Rob lives in Harlow with his wife Chris and a large dog, has 3 adult children and lists his hobbies as snooker, travel, socialising, reading and DIY.
Why I joined.
I was looking for a franchise that would combine the things I did best and enjoyed most - business analysis, management, problem solving and developing others.
I researched the Business advisor / coaching market extensively and went into due diligence with the two major players.
ICON impressed me with the central team, the helpfulness and capability of their advisors and the level of initial and ongoing support they provided to their franchisees from within the team and from the centre.
First impressions.
Pre-training and core training were excellent.
Very competent trainers who had not only "been there and done it", but were still working with clients and could bring the benefit of real, current experience to support the theory.
Having run businesses from a £600k turnover to £100 million over the last 30 years, I was amazed at the amount of new techniques and skills that I learnt and am now putting into practice.
The monthly regional meeting have also been tremendously useful in terms of refresher training and sharing of real situations and experience.
The value of the team and central support have exceeded my expectations.
