Hi, I’m Lucie John, I’m just over 30 years old, live in Stourbridge and married to Jacob. Jake and I have been together for over 8 years, married 3 years ago and recently started a family and now have a beautiful daughter called Isabelle who is just 9 months old.. I have worked in the Banking Industry for just over 10 years working my way up the career ladder to become a Team Leader/Line Manager for 25 staff. 2 years ago we were informed that our centre would be closing in September 2007 therefore redundancies were offered. For the last 10 months I have been on maternity leave and my redundancy takes effect from June 2008. The easy option would have been to just look for another job within the financial industry, however, trying to look for a part time flexible position to work around Isabelle is like looking for a needle in a haystack! Virtually impossible! I went to the baby show in Birmingham NEC in May this year and I spotted a stand with lots of beautiful shoes, bags and belts displayed. My immediate thought was “what on earth are they doing here at a baby show – it’s not baby stuff!” I was intrigued and being a lover of shoes (what woman isn’t) I just had to go over and investigate. A friendly face approached me and asked if I loved shoes. I said what woman didn’t and for the next 15 minutes I had a friendly chat with Lesley-Ann (the master franchisor) who informed me a little about the business opportunity. Female, family friendly, flexible franchise! Wouldn’t want to say those words after a few glasses of wine! For the rest of the day I was so excited at the prospect of starting up my own business selling items which every woman loves. On the Sunday I emailed Lesley-Ann and asked if I could come down and see her operation and it was like walking into a sweet shop! Wow, her exclusive designs are just fantastic, her colours unbelievable and the prices are very competitive with the high street! Jack and Isabella also came with me and Lesley-Ann made us all feel very comfortable, made us cups of tea and played with Isabella whilst I was heating up her lunch! I can’t say that I was put under any pressure to buy the franchise and I now plan to launch my business in early September for the new autumn season. It’s a fantastic concept, the shoes are extremely good quality, great exclusive designs in lots of beautiful colours – just what women want.
