Press release date: 9-Aug-2006 FOR Simon Smith working with his son Tyler is proving to be a dream come true. ”I bring the business experience and he brings the youthful enthusiasm,” explains Simon. “We work together as a great team.” Simon and Tyler are the Leicester franchisees of Countrywide Signs, a business that provides on-site advertising to Estate Agents, Property Management and Land & Commercial Agents. Established in 1998, the company offers valuable professional services supplying, erecting, maintaining and recycling estate agent signs. It was thanks to Tyler’s involvement that Simon was sold on the idea of housing. “He convinced me that it was a great business to be in,” Simon reveals. “We then needed no convincing that Countrywide Signs are the premier movers in the estate agency franchising.” Simon was attracted by the “honesty of the people” he encountered during his training period. “They were prepared to tell us everything about the business - the good, the bad and the ugly,” he reveals. “It wasn’t sugar coated. It was: ‘These are the benefits, these are the drawbacks, this is the work. We think it’s a good opportunity, do you agree?’ Well we both certainly did.” Simon adds: “It’s hard work and requires you to be ‘on the go’ a lot, but you don’t get caught in a routine, everyday is fresh and new and that’s really important to me.” Operating primarily out of Leicester, but expanding outwards, Simon and Tyler have been running their franchise for 12 months and are starting to see the result of their efforts. “We’ve seen our profits increase to 36 per cent in our recent review,” Simon reports. “It’s certainly a franchise that’s worth being involved in.”
