The Reults of the Study...

The study conducted amongst 156 of the UK’s top interim managers has revealed that women interims are more readily welcomed into the Board Room than their male counterparts. Being perceived as "less of a threat" to existing, typically male, management is a distinct advantage. Women were also seen as being persuasive, quickly fitting in, building good relationships and able to get things done – particularly vital in the interim arena.

Women are seen as effective Interim Managers...

As such, interim management offers women a way to break through the glass-ceiling which still has women under-represented in UK Boards. The Female FTSE Report 2005 shows that in 2005 women held only 10.5% of directorships in FTSE100 companies, whilst the Professional Women’s Network shows that women occupied 11.4% of boardroom roles in the UK in 2005.

13% because of being good networkers
Additional reasons cited included flexibility, multi-tasking and adaptability in adversity.
