Background... Adrian Walton, and his wife Jo, are the owners of the Belvoir Stafford franchise. They have been with Belvoir now for seven and a half years – Adrian has a great interest in property – on leaving school, he worked for a chartered surveyor, and more recently, has actually built his own house. Why Belvoir? When Adrian and Jo first decided that they were ready for the challenge of running their own business they looked at two or three property-based franchises, but decided that Belvoir was the right one for him because its concept fitted exactly what he was looking for. ‘I went to the National Franchise Exhibition, where we spoke to a number of franchisees,’ remembers Adrian. ‘That confirmed our idea that we would be onto a good thing with a Belvoir franchise and decided to go ahead with it.’ Adrian’s initiation into Belvoir included two weeks’ in house training – he has also completed a National Diploma in residential letting and management and is now working towards another qualification with the National Association of Estate Agents. ‘I had a lot of initial support,’ says Adrian. ‘In particular, the mentoring, and help with the software and the business system. There is always someone on the end of the phone if there is ever a problem. We have a helpline and also a website, which both work to the franchisees’ benefit.’ Adrian feels that he definitely made the right choice in joining Belvoir. ‘It was the right move for me and my wife Jo,’ he comments. ‘Belvoir has more than lived up to our expectations – The initial package is very good and there is always plenty of support.’ Success to date... Adrian and Jo have just recently expanded their operation by taking an acquisition in Stone and re-branding it.
