This event is being held at the Hilton Bracknell, just off the M3. Easy to find and loads of free parking available.

"I came on the workshop to find out really how to improve our recruitment process and today I've been given so many great ideas, which I think will save my franchise manager at least 6 days a month, which is absolutely fantastic.  Also, I think it'll increase our conversion of franchise leads into franchisees significantly.  So I've been really pleased with the day; I felt it was really good value and everybody's been really friendly.  I'd certainly recommend it to any franchisors who are looking to improve the quality of their marketing,"  Sussanne Chambers, HomeXperts.

How reasonable are the restrictive covenants in your franchise contract?
April 19th, 2011 by Fiona Boswell in Franchise Legal

A recent case1 has highlighted the courts reluctance to intervene in “rewriting” RC’s to make them enforceable.  This means it is even more important to ensure that your RC’s are reasonable.

RC’s – the Law

The general rule is – a franchisor has a legitimate right to protect its interests in the territory   where its franchisees operate – i.e. when a franchise comes to an end for a reasonable period of time the franchisor can prevent the former franchisee from competing with the incoming franchisee, and from poaching staff and/or employees etc.

Helping Your Franchisees Control Their Business
April 15th, 2011 by Cathryn Hayes in Franchise Sales and Development in the UK

The UK economy continues to see signs of pressure with inflation rising and retail sales figures static so there are continued challenges. Now is a good time for businesses to be innovative and think about how to improve efficiency and profitability.  Many small business owners simply don’t have the time or resources to do this.  This is where the strength of franchising comes into its own – you can help keep your franchisees focused, sharing your knowledge and experience.

Looking at overheads seems obvious – but many small

The Importance of a Solid National Marketing Campaign
By Sarah Cook - Coconut Creatives

A franchisors national marketing campaign has two major uses; to raise awareness of the branded franchise offering and to support existing franchisees.

Showing them Value for Money
As most franchisors take a royalty from franchisees. It is important to show value for money. By demonstrating to your franchisees that their hard earned cash is being spent on promoting the brand nationally, it only helps to benefit them as more people will be aware of their business and what it offers.

Using your Franchisees as Case Studies
Testimonials are just about the best way of gaining prospects confidence, so use your existing advocates for your brand to help sell your franchise package.

BACKTOBASIC STRATEGY TO AID FRANCHISEE RECRUITMENT

Back-To-BasicsStrategy To Aid Franchisee Recruitment
By Iain Martin of Kyros Business Services

If you are an existing franchisor you may find this article very basic. However, having spoken to many franchisors, all of whom would like to recruit more quality franchisees, I am still surprised by the number who are not putting these fundamental elements into practise.

In my opinion, your starting point should be to create a roadmap explaining your franchisee recruitment process step-by-step (this can be shown to prospective franchisees) and a profile of your ideal franchisee.

You should also review your perceived franchisor competitors regularly to ensure that your franchise offering remains competitive and attractive. Your franchise package should define the fee, the costs of training and any capital and other items needed to operate the business, together with the required cash flow/working capital.
