After fifteen years of working in a factory environment I was ready for a change, and self-employment through franchising seemed to be the best way forward. I knew very little about franchising and therefore searched the Internet and the British Franchise Exhibition at the NEC before making any decisions. My voluntary work for Greyhound rescue set the scene for my future, although working on the front desk at the local police station taught me all I needed to know about dealing with people. I wanted to bring a better balance to my life, and having five dogs, all in need of love and attention, led me to Oscar and the idea of working for myself.
