The market for mobility equipment such as scooters, wheelchairs, and stairlifts is estimated to be worth at least £1.5 Billion in the UK and is growing year by year. The population of the UK is set to rise to by over four million in the next ten years and by nearly ten million in the next 20 years.

People are living longer and the ‘Baby Boomers’ of the 1950s and early sixties are now reaching their ‘third age’.

In addition to these powerful demographic factors the government’s stated aim is to help people live independent lives in their own homes. All of these factors mean that more and more people will need products and services such as:

• Rise-and-Recline Chairs
• Mobility Scooters
• Walking Aids
• Bathing Aids
• Stair-lifts

The franchise opportunity...

Ableworld has two divisions:

• Retail Outlets
• and Stair-lift business

The full Ableworld franchise consists of both a retail outlet and a stair-lift business.

Both are profitable and can be operated separately but work best in partnership as a full Ableworld mobility franchise.

You would act as a specialist retail manager for the store providing high levels of customer service and building relationships with your customers. High levels of service are important not just before a sale but after too.

The stair-lift side of the business franchisees will require the ability to quote, install and repair the equipment. Some background in light engineering could be advantageous, however full training will be provided. If you prefer to focus mainly on the sales and management side, an engineer could be hired to carry out this aspect of the business.

Full training on all aspects of the business. Minimum 36 days including intensive support before and after opening.

Financial investment...

• Franchise fee: £29,950.
  
• Setup costs and working capital: £35,000 - £45,000
  (Setup costs are for premises, van and stock and vary primarily on the size, location and suitability of premises)
  
• Total investment: £65,000 - £75,000
  Up to 60%* of this total can be raised through financing
  
• Minimum available liquid funds you will require: £25,000 - £30,000
