Calling all Franchisors: Save Time and Effort and be Inspired All in One Day?
This year’s Business Booster Conference and Franchise Supplier Showcase takes place on Thursday 17th November in Birmingham. The purpose of the event is to save franchisors the extensive time and effort it takes to source good suppliers that can help make their businesses more efficient and profitable, by bringing them all together under one roof for a day.
The event is organised by The Franchising Centre and Managing Director Brian Duckett commented “A frustration for many franchisors is knowing that there are good products and services out there that can help them develop their business, but they don’t have the time to go through the whole process of searching for and interviewing potentially good suppliers. The purpose of this event is to gather together lots of suppliers under one roof that know and understand the franchise market so that franchisors can speak to a number all on one day.”
The event provides a nice relaxed atmosphere in which franchisors can speak to suppliers to learn about their offering without the stresses involved in a more traditional sales environment.
The event also aims to provide information which is useful and interesting to franchisors with a number of guest speakers and presentations. Back by popular demand this year will be Brody Sweeney with more inspirational words about his own experiences in the world of franchising – anyone who saw him last year will tell you that he is not to be missed!
All proceeds from the event will go to the Trussel Trust’s Foodbank project which provides an immediate source of emergency food for those who unexpectedly hit hard times here in the UK.

2010 Business Booster Conference and Franchise Supplier Showcase – A Great Success!
The 2010 Business Booster Conference and Franchise Supplier Showcase was a great success, with everyone enjoying a full and informative day. With approximately 140 attendees it is now one of the biggest trade only events in the franchise calendar.
The event is organised by The Franchise Supplier Showcase and Director Brian Duckett commented “The event continues to grow as word spreads that it is a unique opportunity for franchisors to see lots of suppliers in one place as well hear from top business speakers and hear the latest industry news.”
Delegates were able to see the latest innovations to help franchisors and franchisees run their businesses with a particular focus on tools designed to make growing and managing a franchise network easier and more efficient.
Simon McNeil-Ritchie provided the much anticipated update on the local government initiative to boost franchising in the UK. Called Franchising Works, the programme is intended to reduce unemployment by directing good quality candidates towards becoming franchisees. Delegates were able to register their interest in the initiative.
Meanwhile, the suppliers exhibiting at The Franchise Supplier Showcase were delighted with the big turnout and all reported having good conversations with franchise company decision makers. Duckett commented “It was particularly good to see a number of franchisors exhibiting as suppliers this year. Hopefully we’ve finally provided the forum which enables franchisors to sell to each other, enabling them to grow by promoting themselves within their own business community.”
Another highlight was O’Briens Founder Brody Sweeney wrapping up the day with an inspiring address about the highs and lows of his life in business. His talk included some great motivational words and many franchisors left feeling they had seen the ideal speaker for their next franchisee conference!
All proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the Foodbank charity who as a not-for-profit franchise were overwhelmed by the offers of help they received on the day in addition to the £2,300 the event raised for this excellent cause.
All in all a great day out and a unique event for the benefit of the franchise sector. If you were unable to attend, details of franchise industry suppliers can be found at www.franchisesuppliers.co.uk.
Franchise Supplier Showcase event achieves record attendance!
On the 18th November, the most recent Franchise Supplier Showcase event took place at Tatton Park near Manchester. It was an idyllic location which saw the biggest gathering of franchisors and suppliers in the history of the Showcase event.
For many years the Franchise Supplier Showcase event has provided the franchising industry with the UK’s only dedicated event focusing specifically on providing a place for franchisors to meet specialist suppliers to improve and streamline their franchise businesses.
The event featured presentations from some of the leading suppliers to the Franchise Industry as well as featuring Brody Sweeney, the founder of O’Briens Irish Sandwich Bars franchise. His inspirational talk was well received and full of good Irish humour.
Nick Strong, one of those responsible for organising the event said, “It was a great event and wonderful to see so many influential brand directors in attendance”.
Every franchisor attending had also given a contribution to the the Trussell Trust charity and a total of £2247.52 was raised as a result of the Showcase event. The Trust, amongst other projects, provides food boxes for those experiencing financial or emotional crisis. The food boxes are distributed by a network of ‘Foodbanks’ which are operated on a franchise type basis. Anyone interested in establishing a Foodbank in their local area or town can apply to use the established Foodbank brand and system. For further information see the Trussell Trust website.
