Not so long ago, running a franchise business was a rather a male dominated territory. Much of this could be due to a good number of franchises requiring manual labour, man-and-van type franchises and other types of  industry that appeal more to the male population. Over the last decade, however, more and more franchises are springing up which cater for women. In fact some of the franchises now available are actually more suited to women than men.

So lets look at some of the womens franchise options:-

Dating Franchises

These are often event based franchises which can be a good choice for women. If you are a natural matchmaker type and like to meet new people, this can present a good opportunity to put your energies into something really worthwhile. Typically it involves arranging evening and weekend dating events for singles.

Working with Children Franchises

These can be a great choice for women and often take the shape of pre-school music clubs or childrens birthday party entertainment. Its obviously essential that you enjoy working with children and get alot of satisfaction from seeing them enjoy themselves as a result of your work.

Diet Club Franchises

Diet Club franchises usually cater for both women and men but generally attract a higher female following. These are very suitable to be run by women so could also be another good option to consider if you like meeting people and helping them to improve their lifestyles.

Of course there are many more women’s franchises available. You can check the womens franchises section of some of the online franchise directories to get more of a comprehensive idea of whats available.

Before making your choice, speak to one of the high street banks about funding options unless you already have capital available yourself. The major high street banks have dedicated franchise sections which can also be a good source of information on the franchise opportunities that you might be considering.  Its worth speaking to them to find out if they know about any of the franchises you might be considering.

With your funding information under your belt, arrange to visit the franchisors you are interested in to get a feel for their operation. Its also important to find out what support systems they have in place and obtain a list of some franchisee references. Contact a few of the franchisees and ask them about their experiences and how the franchise has worked from them. They are the ones that should give the most helpful information and give you real feedback about how the franchisor supports them and works with them.

Taking on a franchise will require you to sign a legal contract as some point so be sure to consult a franchise solicitor who can advise you on all the implications of the legal relationship you will be entering into with the franchisor. Get as much information as you can about the franchise so that you feel well informed and happy before parting with any cash. Once you have made your choice, commit yourself to working to the proven franchise system and make it work for you.
